Stay On The Side
The Fish Were Stocked
Another little known fact is that trout tends to stay on the same side of the stream as where they were placed. This is especially true if the water is high.
Trout which have been stocked during a period of high water, are likely to be in that eddy downstream from and on the same side as their place of insertion. Hunt out that eddy and you’ve got some good trout fishing ahead of you!
What Would You Do?
Consider this scenario. Early spring. You haven’t even gone down to look at the water yet. But you knew that the water sounded fast. After all it hadn’t stopped raining in days. At least that’s what it felt like. Now, from just this, do you know what type of lure to use?
If you said something “fairly large” that would create a flash, you’d be right on the money. Some people in this instance would choose a three-inch gold spoon.
Now you’re getting the idea about the ways to read a stream. I could probably ramble on all day about this. But instead, I’m going to go on to the next — and last chapter.
This chapter deals with miscellaneous tips, tricks, and techniques on trout fishing in general. Some of these you’ll find quite useful.
